Since I was young, I started doing speed runs on games. On Super NES,
I finished Super Mario 3 in 11 minutes. It's even featured on YouTube today.
I got a real 'kick' out of that... so I totally get your
need to level up quick too.
Well, I then moved on to more games like Guild Wars, Lineage, Battle of Immortals, etc.
When World of Warcraft came out, I was the first on the server to hit level 60, the max level at that time.
Took me 8 days.
People’s eyes on the server were green with envy and
I felt good.
Back in the old Diablo 2, I got up to level 99 in only a few days.
I went on Battle.net wearing my social status with pride.
But now, we have Diablo 3.
And I'm busy refining and tweaking every path I can take for every character.
Every single quest. Check.

Back in the old days, I did all the stupid things above.
Diablo 2 came out and I 'disappeared'
16 hour runs, grinding the same mob over and over again…
I even 'forced' my party members to do the same thing with me until they all couldn't keep up and they all quit on me.
I failed a couple of exams.
My parents pounded hard on my locked door because I never came out for meals.
I became scrawny and starved.
My already strained relationship with my
girlfriend – Jennifer, was pushed to the edge because I didn't answer
any of her phone calls.
Yep. I was that fanatical about reaching level 99 that I lost my 'soul'.
It was when she left me that I finally woke up.
She hasn't forgiven me ever since.
It was then I realized the truth and I told
myself, “Jon… you can't do the same thing over and over again and
expect different results!”
I realized that I needed to sharpen my axe.
From then on, I started learning from the pros.
I spoke to them, made friends with them and followed their footsteps.
To cut a long story short, I never did stupid things with my speed runs anymore.
The result? I still enjoy parties and a normal life! (Not to mention a stable relationship!)
What can I say? Diablo 3 is only fun when you
are armed to the teeth and maxed to your full potential without
